Honor MagicBook 15

Honor recently launched its first laptop in India, the Honor MagicBook 15. They mainly targetted students and office users who need a casual laptop for there work. Lets see some specs that what the laptop brings with it.

• Design

It has a single color varient called Mystic Silver, which looks good. Complete laptop is made of metal, so its a strong build. They gave some blue effect at the edges and the honor logo, which looks cool. They have a fingerprint sensor in-built within the power button which is very handy. The bezels are very minimal to give you a very immersive experience.They also have popup camera embedded in the keyboard which makes privacy better. It is 16.9 mm thin and it weighs just 1.53 kg, which is super light weight.

• Display

The display size of this laptop is 15.6″. It is a anti-glare display which prevents reflection till some extent. The laptop has 87% of screen to body ratio, which is great. The display quality is good and viewing angles are very good for its price.

• Keyboard and trackpad

The keyboard is tactile and the space to rest palm is proper, which makes the typing experience really good. The trackpad here is large full size windows gestures based trackpad which is pretty good.

• Performance

On the CPU side, the laptop packs AMD Ryzen 5 3500U processor, which is a pretty good processor at its price range. The performance here is almost similar to Intel Core i5 8th gen processor, which is pretty good. On the GPU side, it has AMD Radeon Vega 8, which is better than integrated Intel GPU’s. The performance you get here is suitable for its price and its good for casual users like students or office users. Heavy gaming is not so good on this laptop.

• Battery and charging

Honor claims that the battery of this laptop should last for upto 6.6 hr which is decent. It would be suitable for casual users. It terms of charging, the laptop packs a 65 W AC adapter in the box, which can charge the laptop upto 53% in just 30min, which is great. The laptop charges through type-c port which can be also used to transfer data, which is really great to see in this price range.

• Memory and storage

It has 8GB of RAM of DDR4 type and its at 2400 MHz of frequency and it has 256GB of Pcle NVMe SSD storage. The RAM is soldered, so RAM cannot be expanded, which is not good. The storage here is SSD, so its really fast, but the capacity here is 256GB which is really low. Many might feel it as a deal breaker, so do keep this point in mind before buying it.

• Additional features

The laptop runs on Windows 10 and has 1 year of free Microsoft Office license for free. It has some additional features for honor or huawei smartphone users to share data quickly wirelessly. Do check other features of the laptop in flipkart from link below.

Price and our opinion

Honor MagicBook 15 is priced at 43k. The brand gives 3k discount and sells the laptop at 40k at its first sale. For the price you get good features and good build quality, but you also get some laptops from Asus and HP at 1k less, which is great. Moreover those laptops have 512GB SSD which can be a game changer for them. So do check those laptops as well before buying.
